  • If you’ve ever spent any significant amount of time around me, you’ve probably heard a little bit about how I run off to the middle of nowhere, Minnesota almost every summer to go speak German. Waldsee German Language Village, and Concordia Language Villages by extension, has been a part of my life since I was 7 years old. It’s not just a place I went to learn (and then teach) German, it’s a place that has fundamentally impacted me as a human being. It’s the place where I gained confidence in myself. Where I made some of my best friends to this day. Where I’ve dressed up as everything from a knight in shining armor to an extremely emo Goethe, and learned to take myself a little bit less seriously.

Concordia Language Villages is a magical place. Which is exactly why I am so unbelievably excited to be joining the CLV team as their marketing and enrollment content creator, where I’ll get to tell stories like mine every single day and play a small part in making those magical, life changing memories for so many more kids. Here’s to an exciting new chapter in the same place that has always been my home.

  • SWIPE ➡️ FOR BOSTON CHINATOWN FOOD RECS

Dumplings. Dim Sum. Ramen. Bubble Tea. You name it, you can find it in Boston’s Chinatown.

Home not only to Chinese food of every region but East Asian and Southeast Asian food of all kinds, Boston’s Chinatown is a veritable Mecca for any food lover out there.

If you’re spending any time at all, you’re not going to want to miss heading to the area for a meal – or more!

Boston’s Chinatown was actually our very first stop once we got off the plane for a little DIY Boston Chinatown food tour – and it didn’t disappoint.

Here are a few can't-miss stops in the area:

🍜 Stop 1: Ramen & Samurai Duck Buns at WakuWaku

🥤 Stop 2: Bubble Tea at Tea-Do

🥮 Stop 3: Red Bean Moon Cake and Mango Mousse Cakes at the Corner Cafe Bakery

Which one of these stops would you head to first? 😋

  • After nearly a week in Portugal, it was finally time to hit up the capital city... Lisbon!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For a quirky and useful overview of the city, I went on the King of the Hills tour with @wehatetourismtours and had so much fun! Think open-top jeep, silly narration, and a hole-in-the-wall pastel de nata spot.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you're traveling to Lisbon soon (hey there, European followers), then I highly recommend taking a tour with We Hate Tourism Tours–they're honestly great!
  • Scenes from golden hour in Obidos 🌇
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of the most magical moments I've ever experienced was walking along the medieval walls of Obidos, Portugal after all of the day-trippers had gone. I had the place completely to myself as it turned beautiful colors of yellow, blue, and dusky pink, and it was everything.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What's the most magical moment you've ever experienced?
  • Give me more of these days filled with exploring ancient little towns and so many smiles 🤞
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For me, this has been the hardest part of COVID–a distinct lack of exploration opportunities. I feel so lucky that this has been the hardest part of all of this for me, but it still leaves a huge hole in my heart.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My plan after graduation was to travel for a year. Now, I've graduated and, well... traveling isn't exactly a great plan right now. So now I'm left kind of floating, not sure of what my plan is or what my next steps should be.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anyone else feeling the same way?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
P.S. These feelings brought on by my recapping my 2018 trip to Portugal. See more of Obidos in my stories 😊
